What are Krill? Krill are tiny crustaceans found in the sea and make up the world's largest animal biomass. The oil extracted from krill is rich in the omega“3 fatty acids EPA and DHA bound to highly unsaturated phospholipids, closely resembling human brain phospholipids. These phospholipids “ phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylethanolamine “ are essential to life and are a major component of cell membranes, functioning as cell messengers and as carriers of EPA and DHA, providing a fast and effective delivery of these omega“3s.
Designs for Health's improved XanthOmega™ Krill Oil has a high phospholipid content, standardized to a minimum of 40% phospholipids, mostly as phosphatidylcholine. This updated version is considered to be a virgin krill oil, the purest form available, with higher phospholipid bioavailability, enhancing the absorption of one of krill's shining features, the powerful antioxidant astaxanthin.
Astaxanthin, the carotenoid from the microalgae, haematococcus pluvialis, is a staple of krill's diet and gives them and other crustaceans their vibrant pink color. Recommended Use: As a dietary supplement, take two softgels for thirty days, and one softgel per day thereafter with the first meal, or as directed by your health care practitioner.

Heat Sensitive Shipping Policy Designs for Health has certain items that are sensitive to higher temperatures/higher humidity levels and may require shipping in a cool environment depending on your location and time of year. For example, we recommend probiotics ship year-round in a cool environment. All PaleoBars™ and softgels should ship cold from May 1st through September. We recognize that in most cases you can logically make that decision on your own, but recommend that if the temperature is above 75 degrees, regardless of US location, you may ask to ship these items in a cool environment with cooler bag and cold paks. These items are subject to special shipping procedures due to their sensitive nature. We have these procedures to ensure our customers continue to receive products in good condition. Designs for Health recommends that Heat Sensitive Products ship out in a cooler bag and be received by customers within 48 hours of order fulfillment. Any products damaged in transit may be returned provided Designs for Health is notified within 24 hours of the time and date that the customer received their order.
Heat Sensitive products ordered after 5:00 PM EST Thursday or before 5:00 PM EST on Friday will be shipped out Monday. Customers may elect to have their order ship in its entirety on Monday or choose to split their order and have only their heat sensitive products ship on Monday. If the customer elects to split their order Designs for Health's regular shipping policies will apply with the exception that the value of the combined orders will determine the shipping charge on the "regular" order.
If a customer chooses not to have Heat Sensitive Products shipped in a cooler bag the customer must take responsibility for these items and agree that we will not accept a return of the heat sensitive item(s) and a "Refused Cooler Bag" note will be entered on the order.
